"Quantum engineers had the luxury of building the Tour Edition PT reels from scratch...they didn't have to work within the confines of previous design. So they got to do everything exactly as they wanted, including designing a new gearbox, and the gears for it. The new gearbox gives the reel a distinctive look, and allowed the engineers to resolve the power issue creating the ultra-high-speed "Burner" gear set with 7.0:1 retrieve ratio. The rich blue finish is the result of a scratch-resistant titanium vacuum deposition coating.
On a personal level, trust in your equipment is a must when tournament fishing. With Quantum, I never have to worry about my equipment failing. That's a big relief when thousands of dollars are on the line!!
